Let’s look at asking and answering questions using the past simple
We use the auxilary, DO which becomes DID in the past simple tense + plus the base verb, in this case (TO) SEE.
For example, a simple question: Did you see the black cat? Yes I saw the black cat.
For a more complex question you can add a question word: Where did you see the black cat? I saw the black cat in the garden.
